Featherstone July 25, 1934 - September 23, 2017 Service Date: September 30, 2017 Funeral Home Corcoran Funeral Home Inc Cemetery St. Mary s Cemetery Church St. Therese s Church Edward Joseph Featherstone passed away peacefully at Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South on Saturday evening, September 23, 2017. He was 83. Born and raised in the Plains and the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, he is the son of the late Christopher Joseph and Nora (O’Boyle) Featherstone. Edward was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and King’s College, where he excelled in Math and was one of the college’s first Math graduates. He was a proud and active alumnus and enjoyed going to King’s basketball games. He was also an active parishioner of St. Dominic’s of Parsons for more than 7 decades. He worked as an industrial salesman at Westinghouse Electric Corporation for more than 40 years and earned a number of awards for his sales leadership. Ed was married to Nancy Mae (Thomas) Featherstone for 57 blissful years and enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and platform tennis with his many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed playing sports with his grandchildren as well as attending many of their sporting events. Ed also enjoyed vacationing on Long Beach Island and Myrtle Beach for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his son James, his sister Ann, and his grandson Robert. Funeral will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 9:15 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Therese’s Church, 64 Davis Street Shavertown, PA with Father James Paisley, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Edward is survived by three sons Mark (Peggy), Bob (Teresa) and Ned, and his grandchildren Maggie, Tom, Mark, John, Anna, Michael, Danny, Keriann, Andrew and Emma, his brother Chris and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
