Murray, 96, of Plains Township, passed away Wednesday evening, January 10, 2018 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, with her family at her side. Born in Plains, Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Cunningham) Burns. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College. Dorothy was employed for Keogh Coal Company as a bookkeeper and last for Leslie Fay Dress Factory. A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, attending Mass daily. Dorothy’s family was her passion. The grandchildren referred to her as Triple H, “Healthy, Happy and Holy”. She was preceded in death by her Husband Gerald E. Murray on January 7, 1996, Son, John Murray on July 18, 2013, Brothers Joseph, John, Al and Sylvester Burns, Sisters, Florence Doran, Mary Monaghan, Mary Carrigg, June Callahan, Jule Tinsley, Helen Burns, Anne Burns, Margaret and Catherine Burns, and infant twin brothers. Surviving are her sons Gerald Murray and his wife Suzanne, State College, PA, Joseph Murray and his wife Tracy, Mountain Top, daughters Helen Lindner and husband Larry, Clarks Summit, Nancy Jones, Plains, Dr. Marianne Murray Hall and her Husband Kevin, Portland, Maine, Daughter-in-law Dianne Murray, Dallas, 19 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Tinsley and his wife Susan, Danville, several nephews and nieces. Funeral will be held Monday, January 15, 2018 at 9:30 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father James Nash, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
