Dorothy A. Corcoran, 80, of Pittston passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Partridge-Tippett Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Plains on May 25, 1942, to the late Anthony J. and Mary E. (Kovalick) Magdalinski. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Plains, in 1960.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Her life was built around her family, especially her grandchildren. Her ultimate goal was to make people happy whether that meant a home cooked meal or a simple smile or conversation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Lynch and her husband Michael; Anne Marek and her husband Norman; Marie MacDougall and her husband Michael; Rose Stegmueller and her husband Fred; and Christine Piechota; brothers Joseph, Anthony, Frank, and Charlie Magdalinski.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart, devoted caregiver, and husband, Hugh Corcoran, Pittston, who would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this December 29. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Marge Krueger and her husband Garett, Plains: Mary Doran and her husband, Gary, Duryea; Melissa Styczen and her husband Alex, Plains. Her grandchildren, the absolute lights of her life include Dr. Gary Doran and his wife Martha Kriley, Pasadena, CA; Nicole Doran, Harrisburg; Kara Krueger, Plains; Kyle Krueger and his fiancée Kennedy Rinish, Scranton; Sophie and Kolton Styczen, Plains. Also surviving are her sisters, Theresa Magdalinski, FL; Bernadine Lizza, Pittston; brother David Magdalinski, Dallas. She leaves behind her brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Partridge-Tippett Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided Dorothy. She was always treated with care, dignity and respect. For that, the family will forever be grateful.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.  Those attending the funeral mass, please go directly to church Tuesday morning. Private inurnment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains.  Family and friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations if desired may be made to Little Eric’s Foundation, P.O. Box 1004 Pittston, PA  18640 in Dorothy’s memory.
