Obituaries » Donna J. Haggerty December 26, 1967 - March 14, 2019 Donna Haggerty, 51 of Jenkins Township, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, March 14, 2019, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Township. Born in the Port Blanchard section of Jenkins Township, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Barbara Ann (Oberst) Haggerty. Donna was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1985, and was a member of St. Mark Church, Inkerman, until its closure and merger with St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Donna was employed as a bank teller for 14 years in West Pittston, and was currently Owner/Operator along with her partner and best friend Mark LaVerdi, of D & H Asphalt Seal Coating. Donna was known for her high work ethic. Her and Mark worked side by side for many years. Donna was also known for her wonderful cheesecake she would make for the holidays. It was an old family recipe that she kept going for her family. Everyone looked forward to her making it every year. Surviving are her husband of over 30 years, Mark LaVerdi, brother Patrick Haggerty, Inkerman, sisters Colleen Barron and her husband George, Mountain Top, and Karen Haggerty, Pittston, nephews Jared Patrick Seamon, Connor Haggerty, and Nathanael Barron, niece Nicole Erin Haggerty, mother-in-law Loretta LaVerdi, Phoenix, AZ, sister-in-law Lynn LaVerdi, Inkerman, and her best buddy and puppy, Oliver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702, with Father James J. Walsh, Pastor, officiating. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the Church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming, at a later date. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, Pennsylvania 18705.
