Tavana, 97, a resident of Exeter for more than 70 years, passed into eternal life to be with his Heavenly Father on March 3, 2015 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins, Twp. Born in Berwick, he was the son of the late Frank and Lucia (DeBeneditis) Tavana. Dominic attended G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was employed by Nelson Brothers of Wyoming and Kingston for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Barbara’s Parish, Exeter, and The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton Locals, The Antique Auto Club of Wilkes-Barre, and The Good Sam’s Camping Club. During his years at Nelson of Kingston, he served as shop steward. He helped many of his friends and relatives get jobs in the Teamsters Union. Dominic was a kind and gentle man who would drop anything to give someone a hand. His life was dedicated to his family and was especially proud of his 3 grandsons. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years the former Josephine Brandlino, brothers Cataldo and Frank Tavana, sisters Mary Shelly, Dora Bove, Connie Wierzeicki, and Rose Januzzi. Surviving are his beloved daughter Theresa Ann Stuka and her husband Dr. Andrew Stuka, Exeter, grandsons Andrew Stuka and his wife Charyse, Michael and Matthew Stuka, sisters Antoinette Reisser and Lucy Kratz, both of Wilkes-Barre, and Adeline Ney, Arizona, sister-in-law Carmella Tavana, Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews. Dominic’s family would like to thank the nurses and aids at Wesley Village for their compassion and wonderful care of Dominic. Funeral will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Barbara’s Parish/St. Cecelia’s Church 1700 Wyoming Avenue Exeter, PA 18643. Interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming. Friends may call Friday evening, March 6, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
