David M. Zomerfeld

David M. Zomerfeld, 65 of Dallas, and formerly of the Miners Mills and Parsons sections of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, June 2, 2024 at Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Kingston, PA, where he had been a resident for the past 4 years.

Born on September 18, 1958 in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Casimir M. and Rita M. (Dructor) Zomerfeld.

Dave was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1977, and was an Air Force Veteran.  After his honorable discharge from active service in 1978, he was employed as a truck driver at Fran Tomalis & Sons, Pittston, a service Representative at Motor Twins, Wilkes-Barre, at Techneglas, Pittston, and last at the VA Medical Center, Plains Twp. as the Building and Grounds Manager until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Michele Wincek in 2020, and his nephew James Wincek in 2015.

Surviving are his former wife, Sharon Eyet Zomerfeld, Dallas, brother-in-law, Ronald Wincek, Parson, Niece Renee Wincek, Plains, and nephew Christopher Wincek, Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Dave’s family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff at Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the wonderful care and compassion given to Dave these past 4 years.

Funeral services for Dave will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter.  Family and friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
