David Dunsmuir, 79 of Plains Township, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 6, 2021 at Residential Hospice, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Plains, and raised by his grandmother Marion, he was the eldest of 13 children to the late David and Rita (Blakeslee) Dunsmuir.

David was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, and spent most of his professional career working for PPL. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

David will always be remembered for his contagious laugh, charming smile, passion for knowledge, can-do attitude, as well as his sweet charisma. He never turned away from a project, whether it was doing electrical work, putting a fence in the backyard, or anything else in between. David brought knowledge and love to everyone he met, and was always willing to share his ideas about home improvement and life in general.

An avid family man and outdoorsman, David spent his later years enjoying time with his beloved wife of 56 years, Rosemary, as well as his grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Dave and Rose were attached at the hip. You could often find Dave at the pancake house with Rosemary and friends at least twice a week, making sure to receive dry white toast, topped off by dry humor. He was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were meaningful, and benefited all who listened.

He was preceded in death by his Brothers William Dunsmuir and Donald “Ducky” Dunsmuir, Sisters Marion “Sissy” Tregaskis, Ann Cease and Rita “Babe” Luse.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, the former Rosemary Hosey, daughter Sherri Bayley, and her husband Steven, Swoyersville, son Scott Dunsmuir and his wife Allison, Cumming, GA, grandchildren Mitchel Bayley and his fiancé Brittney Doty, Ian Bayley, Mason and Laurel Dunsmuir, great-grandson Carter Bayley, Brothers and Sisters, Joan Smith and her husband Gary, Wilkes-Barre, Jean Elick and her husband Ron, Lansdale, Shirley Baird and her husband William, Plymouth, Margaret Augustaitus and her husband Leo, Wilkes-Barre Thomas Dunsmuir and his wife Kathy, Plains, Robert Dunsmuir and his wife Nancy, Wilkes-Barre and John Dunsmuir, Wyoming, numerous nieces and nephews.
