Claire F. Meehan, 83, of Edwardsville, and formerly of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp.

Born in Wilkes-Barre she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Gregor) Carey.

Claire was a 1952 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and was employed as a clerk at several retail stores in the area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Meehan, Sr.; son, Joseph W. Meehan, Jr.; granddaughter, Kelly Golomb; brothers, William Carey and John (Jack) Carey.

Surviving are her two daughters, Joan Moran, Edwardsville, and Colleen Golomb and her husband Shawn, Berwick; grandchildren, John Moran III, Brian Moran and his wife Debra, Patrick Moran and his wife Jill, Joseph W. Meehan III and Megan Golomb; sister, Joan Cunningham, Parsons; sisters-in-law Phyllis Carey and Mary Ellen Carey, and many nieces and nephews.

Claire thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren, and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild.

Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Benedict’s Parish, St. Dominic’s Church, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
