Charmaine Bieda, 83, Kingston, passed away at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke on June 20, 2020. After overcoming multiple health challenges and even beating Covid-19, Charmaine ultimately succumbed to complications from a recent surgery.

Charmaine was born February 28, 1937. She was the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Tolodziecki) Lewis. She was a 1955 graduate of Harter High School, where she served as cheerleading captain, and was crowned Miss Senior Harter High. After graduating, Charmaine worked in the garment industry where she met her husband Joseph John Bieda. They went on to have three daughters, Bobbi Ann, Annette, and Charlene.

Charmaine meant the world to everyone she met and was described as a sweetheart by friends and family. She was an ear for anyone needing a talk and a shoulder to lean on. She loved getting her hair and makeup done, and loved having her nails painted purple by her granddaughter. She loved playing board games, watching game shows, the Golden Girls, and doing word puzzles/Sudoku. Charmaine and her sisters were often described as the characters from the Golden Girls. She loved to enjoy the finer things in life especially a good glass of wine, lobster, and some coconut cream pie. Charmaine’s family and friends will always remember her through these memories.

Charmaine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph John, daughter Charlene, brother Thomas, sister Priscilla, and infant sisters Beverly and Julia.

Charmaine is survived by daughters Annette Bieda of Houston, Texas; Bobbi Ann Dwyer and her husband Robert of Kingston; granddaughter Michelle Pushefski and her husband Brian Santos of Laflin; granddaughter Madeleine Dwyer of Kingston; sister Ann Hankey of Nanticoke; brother John Lewis, Jr. of Nanticoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all who have given her care in the past few years, some of which include Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Angels Touch, Birchwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Mountaintop Senior Care, and Geisinger at Home.

The family will be holding a private funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, #7, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702 or your favorite charity.
