Catherine Zurla, 94, of Lake Ariel and formerly of Port Blanchard, PA passed away Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center, Lake Ariel, PA., where she had been a resident since 2014.

Born December 2, 1923 in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary
(Mecata) Hrab.

She was employed as a floor lady in the area dress factories and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston, and the I.L.G.W.U.

She was predeceased by her husband, Orlando J. Zurla on September 30, 1995, her daughter Kath Walutes, Brother Kelly Hrab, sisters Marie Jenosky, Margaret Pronovich, Helen Burke, Ann Mitchell, and Dorothy Granahan, who passed away on December 5, 2017, a few hours after her sister Catherine.

Surviving are her son Theodore Zurla and his wife Ruth Ann, Lake Ariel, PA, daughter: Gloria Giarratano, Bluffton, SC, 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:15 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, with Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 N. Main St., Pittston, with Father Gary J. Mensinger, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Friends may call Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Parastas Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. at the funeal home.
