Catherine M. Ziemba, 82, of Plains, died Thursday afternoon, July 28, 2016 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes Barre.

Born in Plains, Catherine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Butcher) Yencha.

She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and was employed as a Book keeper for Sincavage Lumber Company, Plains, until her retirement. Catherine was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains.

“Bobbi” as she was called by her Grandchildren, loved spending time with her family. She always looked forward to making pierogis for Christmas Eve dinner with her children and grandchildren. She was also her grandchildren’s most loyal sports fan, spending much time cheering, from the football, baseball and field hockey sidelines.

Catherine was preceded in death by her Husband Edward on May 29, 1999, Daughter Ann Marie Ziemba on June 17, 2005, Brother Stephen Yencha, and Son-In-Law David Brody on June 5, 2014.

Surviving are her Daughters, Theresa Ziemba, at home and Catherine Brody, Edwardsville, Grandchildren, Bethany, Joshua, Megan and Rebekah Brody; Brother, Andrew Yencha, Penndel, Pa., Nephews and Nieces and  Faithful Companions, Tigger and Bandit.

Funeral will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc. 20 South Main Street, Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road Plains, PA  18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, Plains.

Family and friends may call Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
