Carol Patricia (Gavis) Popeck, a resident of Carverton Heights, Kingston Township, entered into eternal life Tuesday morning, February 23, 2016 at Wilkes Barre General Hospital.

Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1944, Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Brogan) Gavis. Carol was a graduate of G.A.R. High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1962 and was the Wife of Robert “Bob” Popeck for 48 Fantastic Years.

Carol was the most warm hearted, friendliest and sincere person. She had the most beautiful smile and a pleasing voice one could ever imagine. She could talk to anyone about everything. She has too many wonderful friends and family members to mention, all of which supported her during her illness.

Carol loved to dance and go to the Irem Temple concerts with Joe Nardone, Eddy Day, Bobby Day, and The Tom Slick Band. One of her favorite concerts was Rod Stewart.

She loved going to malls, walking, and being involved with her son, Jason, at SCCA Auto Cross Races. She loved taking care of the grandchildren RJ, Jason and Jack. She was always excited to pick up her grandson Jack from school every day.

On her 70th Birthday (Christmas), her husband Bob, surprised her with a Black Toyota Solara Convertible. She loved her Solaras.

Carol worked in the office of People’s Household Furniture, Consolidated Cigar of Mountain Top and West Pittston, and at Holy Trinity School. Carol was then as a Secretary of many Catholic Churches and friends with the many great people and priests. She retired from the former Sacred Heart/St. Joseph’s, Parish, Plains. She was a long time parishioner of Saint Therese’s Church, Shavertown and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Jr., loving sister Deloures Sakalas.

Surviving are her husband, Robert (Bob) Carverton, son Jason Popeck and wife Kathy, Bear Creek, daughter Denise Galushka and husband Frank, Wyoming. Grandchildren, RJ and Jason Popeck, and Jack Galushka, brothers-in-laws Gerald Popeck, Mountain Top, Joseph Gebhardt, Chalfont, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Popeck, Kingston. Carol was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the great staff of Erwine Home Care and the nurses/aides at W-B General Hospital for their loving care and compassion.

Carol’s Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish 116 Hughes Street Swoyersville, PA 18704 with Father Joseph J. Pisaneschi, Pastor serving as celebrant.
