Carol Ann Bucknavage, 70, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, as the result of a car accident in her home state of Pennsylvania.

Carol was born on October 5, 1951 in Wilkes Barre, PA. Carol was the fourth of five children born to the late Clarence and Catherine (Yeager) Maier.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1969 and completed her nursing training at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes Barre. Carol married the love of her life, Daniel Bucknavage, in April of 1974 and resided in Vernon, CT until their retirement when they relocated to High Point, NC. Carol’s career was focused on helping people as an Operating Room and Recovery Room Nurse, Nurse Manager, and then IT Programs Director with ECHN (Eastern Connecticut Health Network) in Manchester, CT.

Carol enjoyed gardening, cooking, live theater, traveling, great food and great wine, and entertaining family and friends. She was an avid traveler; enjoyed seeing the world in her retirement with her sisters and lifelong friends.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Dan in 2015.
She is survived by her two daughters who she loved dearly, Leah Ciolkosz and her husband Tim of Hanover, MA and Jessica Bucknavage and her partner Courtney Shafer of High Point, NC. She was a loving grandmother of three grandchildren Nicholas Bucknavage and Benjamin and Samantha Ciolkosz, as well as a recent great grandmother to Caleb Bucknavage. Carol is also survived by her four sisters and their husbands Cathy and Paul Gates, Centermoreland, Marylou and Jim Shaeffer, Guntersville, AL, Margaret and John Rogers, Plains, and Ellen and Gary Watkins Wilkes-Barre. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, cousins and best friends who she also considered her family.

Funeral Services for Carol will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating. Inurnment will be held in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming, PA, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
