Carl S. Sanfilippo, 78 of Wilkes-Barre PA, passed away Saturday February 7th, 2015 at the home of Carla, his daughter, with whom he had resided with since 2012 with his family by his side.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre where he resided most of his life. He was the son of late Samuel and Margaret (Pizano) Sanfilippo.

He was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School, class of 1954. He went onto Kings College to further his education graduating with a bachelor degree in science. He then went onto teach in Maryland at Benjamin Stoddert Jr. High, then to Abington Heights where he taught for over 30 years. Carl enjoyed traveling, beach vacations, and was fortunate enough to visit family in Italy. He had passion for gardening and outdoor activities. He belonged to numerous clubs including The Perugia Beneficial Society, Keystone, where he played cards for many years. He will be greatly missed by many friends and his family.

He was preceded in death by two siblings and his parents.

He is survived by his daughters Carla Decker and her husband Jim, Lisa Sanfilippo, and Deanna Orzel and her husband Paul, grandchildren Jimmy, Alexa and Kendall Decker, Addison and Cassidy Orzel, Great-Grandchildren, Aiden and Julian Decker.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.
