Bernice R. Urban, 62 of Plains Township, passed away Friday morning, September 30, 2016 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Helen (Ryczek) Urban.

Bernice was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1971, and was employed for Bell Telephone and the VA Medical Center, Plains, as a telephone operator until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Hudson, until its closure and merger with Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains.

She was preceded in death by her brother John Urban.

Surviving are her brother Joseph Urban, Plains, Aunt Wanda Deptulski, Churchville, PA, cousin Carol Armillei, Plains, sister-in-law Marilyn Urban, West Wyoming, Nephew John L. Urban and his wife Cindy, Nanticoke, Great-niece and nephew Tara and James Urban.

Funeral will be Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming.

Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
