Barry E. Matthews, 38 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, June 5, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after an 11 year battle against brain cancer with his family by his side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Susan (Kozerski) Landes of Tunkhannock and the late Barry Matthews.

Barry was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School, Class of 1996 and was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. Barry was a partner and Director of Operations of Digital Control Systems, Wilkes-Barre. He was a devoted father and husband, and had a passion for technology. He was an avid fan of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Pittsburg Penguins and was a season ticket holder for the Baby Pens.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal Grandmother Lucy Matthews.

Surviving in addition to his mother Susan, are his wife Stephanie (Thomas) Matthews, sons Nicholas and Michael, paternal Grandfather Elwood Matthews, Wilkes-Barre, maternal Grandparents William and Shirley Kozerski, Plains, brothers and sisters Sara Matthews, Tunkhannock, Lisa Matthews, Richland, WA, Matthew Landes, West Chester, Joshua and Patrick Landes, both of Tunkhannock, and Barbara Landes, Chambersburg.

Funeral Services for Barry will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705, with Rev. Richard Womer, officiating. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
