Barry C. Kresge, Sr., 64 of Plains Twp., avid fisherman, has “Gone Fishing!” His favorite spot was along Bowman’s Creek, where his grandfather taught him to fish. Recently he loved going on rides to revisit various streams, ponds, and lakes where he enjoyed his hobby.

Although he left us too soon, Barry packed a lot into his life. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. His family was the most important thing in his life.

Barry was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of Elmer C. Kresge of Plains, and the late Evelyn (Fedak) Kresge. Barry was very accomplished in many things. At heart he was a musician. He played his guitar at various local venues. He was a huge Beatle fan. Barry recorded two albums – “Fluvana Goes Jazz” and “A Queen’s Christmas”, selections from which can still be heard on the radio during the holidays.

Barry was an educator. He loved young people and was the best teacher of driving skills to his sons and other relatives. He taught hotel management at Luzerne County Community College and East Stroudsburg University. He earned degrees from Wilkes College, California Coast University and a D.B.A. from Argosy University. He worked as a sales director and general manager at various local hotels.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn.

Surviving in addition to his father Elmer, are his wife and love of his life, the former Jean Kazda, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage, his sons Barry Kresge, Jr., Plains, Michael Kresge and his wife Abby, Tucson, AZ, and Jonathan Kresge and his fiancé Charlene Adzema, Bel Air, MD, and grandsons Casey and Emmett Kresge, brother Glenn Kresge, Plains.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Benedict’s Parish, St. Dominic’s Church, 155 Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA, with Father Joseph A. Kearney, Pastor, officiating. Family and friends are asked to go directly to church Wednesday morning. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to The SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, in Barry’s memory.
