Barbara A. Brunhoelzl, 81 of Courtdale, passed away Wednesday morning, June 8, 2022 at her home after a courageous battle against Leukemia.

Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre on July 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Sofia (Yankowski) Gazdowicz.

Barbara was a graduate of Ferris High School, Jersey City, New Jersey, Class of 1958 and was employed as an underwriter at MetLife until her retirement.

Barbara was a vibrant and energetic soul, easily befriending those she met along the way. She was an avid world traveler, boat cruising and casino-hopping whenever she could. Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest, first with her husband, Charlie and later with her best friend Barbara Koslosky. She battled leukemia valiantly with the help of the care and compassion of Dr. Greenwald, his staff and the tireless nurses at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital’s infusion center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Brunhoelzl on May 7, 2018, and her sister Pauline Gazdowicz.

Surviving are her sister Bernadine Hildebrant and her husband John Douglas, Nesconset, NY, niece Dr. Laura Hildebrant and her husband Michael Skoglund, Hampton, NJ, nephews John Hildebrant, Newport News, VA, and Dr. Rick Hildebrant and his wife Heather, North Clarendon, VT, great-niece Cassandra Hildebrant, great-nephews Logan, Otto and Charles Hildebrant.

Funeral Services for Barbara will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 5:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating. Family and friends may call Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family request no monetary donations, but take a trip or vacation with your family or friends to make wonderful memories and enjoy the company of your loved ones.
