Barbara Ann Chukinas, 61, of Plains Township died peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

She was born in Plymouth, on August 6, 1953, a daughter of Nellie (Pasek) Haleski and the late Albert Haleski.

Barbara was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, class of 1971 and attended Endicott College in Beverly, MA. She worked in dental sales for 15 years and managed the office of her family’s business, E.L.C. Manufacturing, for the past 15 years.

In addition to her father, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Haleski.

Barbara always put her family first and was the primary care-giver for her mother. Even as Barbara became ill, she continued to give all of herself to ensure her mother’s happiness.  Barbara often bragged about her children, Megan and Bradley. They were her pride and joy. She would often speak of her husband, Edward Jr., of 29 years in the most loving ways and admired his strength. They loved each other very much and she will be greatly missed by her children and husband.

She could talk for hours about her horse, Mac and her cat, Critty. She loved telling everyone how Critty followed her through the house and about the affection they shared with one other.  Barbara loved photography and would oftentimes have family members hold a pose for 5 minutes or more, just to ensure she got the perfect shot.  She loved honoring her Polish heritage and frequently recited words in the Polish language with her family by her side. Barbara greatly enjoyed sharing stories of her grandmother, the late Maryanna Pasek, with her family. She was a tough woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother, husband and children, Barbara is survived by her in-laws, Edward L. Chukinas Sr. and Joan (Kodaski) Chukinas of Plains, sister in-law JoAnne Chukinas of Plains and several cousins.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Plymouth Township.

Friends may call Tuesday  from 5to 7 pm.
