Ann C. Berecin, 82 of Plains Township, passed away Wednesday evening, April 6, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, Twp surrounded by family.

Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Janosik) Cheresko.

Ann was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School, Class of 1957, and Wilkes-Barre Business College. Ann was employed at Bell Telephone in the business office, retiring in 1994.

A woman of great faith, Ann was a member of Sacred Heart Slovak Church, North Wilkes-Barre, until its closure, and currently a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, where she volunteered at the food pantry.

Ann cherished her family; she organized and hosted family reunions spanning a 25-year period. The reunions were a great source of happiness and fun to her growing family. She also enjoyed traveling with her sisters and cousins, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Berecin, Sr. on November 17, 2008.

Surviving are her children Maria Berecin-Rascon and her husband Armando, Arizona City, AZ, Annette Berecin Yekel and her husband Harry, Lancaster, Joseph Berecin, Jr. and his wife Patsy, Shippensburg, Carla Wychock and her husband Stanley, Mountain Top, and James Berecin and his life partner, Sue Draus, Forty Fort, grandchildren Andrew and Jack Yekel, Melissa and Joseph Berecin, Stanley, Jr., Michael, and Stephanie Wychock, great-granddaughters Lexi and Eliana Wychock, sisters Rose Shukstis and her husband Pete, Sucussunna, NJ, Jean Mudlock, Jenkins Township, Maryann Rodeghiero and her husband Dave, Patsy Rinish, all of Westminster, and Kathryn Clifford, Pasadena, MD, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705. A Blessing Service for Ann will be held at 7:00 pm, with Deacon Donald Crane, officiating.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be held in Sacred Heart Slovak Cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, PA 18643.
