Alice Delaney Walsh Baran, 80 of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away Thursday morning, November 3, 2022 at her home. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Brannigan) Delaney. Alice was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1960, and graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business College. Alice was a business owner of Tea and Basket Place and The Gibbet Shoppe, both of Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she served as an Eucharistic Minister and was a member of Family Service Association of NEPA. Alice was the winner of the United Way Rose Brader Award in 2011 for volunteer service to the Wyoming Valley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Dr. James Patrick Walsh on February 4, 1976, her second husband John J. Baran, Jr. on March 13, 2017, grandson Julian Davies, brother Rev. T. Timothy Delaney, sisters Roseann McNulty and Noreen Delaney. Surviving are her daughters Nora Reinhard and her husband Jason, Whitehall, PA, Christine Davies and her husband Matt, Hershey, PA, and Daria Walsh and her husband Paul Tubb, Clara, County Offaly, Ireland, Mary Baran, Throop, and son Dr. James Baran and his wife Carole, Pittsburgh, grandchildren Sarah and James Reinhard, Celia Walsh, Connor Davies, Tracey Moore and Laura Barr, 3 great-grandchildren, sister Maura Delaney, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Alice will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Father Joseph D. Verespy, officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home.
