DeAngelis, Jr., 70 of Plains Township, passed away Monday evening, June 11, 2018 at his home, with his family by his side after a 7 year battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Plains, he was the son of the late Alfred & Emily (Smolko) DeAngelis, Sr. Al was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and was an Army Veteran, serving with the Pennsylvania National Guard, 109th Field Artillery, retiring in 1986 as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was employed at Leslie Fay, Plains, in the print shop and for UPS as a driver for 38 years, until his retirement. Al was an avid hunter and Dallas Cowboy Football fan. He was a member of the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558, was the Executive Vice President of the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming, a member of the 4 Jays Gun Club, a member of the Board of Par-Del Credit Union, Chapter X Goldwing Riders Motorcycle Club, The NEPR Club, The Red Rose Motorcycle Club, Lancaster, The Sportsman Club, Lake Aleeda, and The Chase Pistol Club. Surviving are his wife of 47 years the former Sandie Kowalchin, Plains, sons Alfred “Butch” DeAngelis III, and his wife Marian, Lehman Twp., and John DeAngelis and his wife Tiffany, Kingston, grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Ian, and Jordan DeAngelis, sister Emily Klem and her husband Ronald, Plains, nieces and nephew. Funeral will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
