Albert “Kro” Karavitch, Sr., 84 of the Hilldale section of Plains Township, passed away Sunday evening, January 28, 2018 at ManorCare HCC, Kingston, PA.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late George & Margaret (Javage) Karavitch.

Kro was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a Medic in Germany where he also played baseball at various Army Bases. He was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, until his retirement.

Kro was a member of the ITLO Club, Hilldale, The Polish American Veterans and The Italian American Club, both of the Hudson section of Plains, The Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558, and the Hilldale Baseball Club. He was an avid New York Yankee and Washington Redskins fan.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Angeline Paterniani, Hilldale, son Ed Karavitch and his wife Karen, Tunkhannock, daughter Deborah Naudus and her husband Al, Burlington, NC, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother Robert Karavitch and his wife Beatrice, Hilldale, and sister Adele Palausky, Bellville, IL, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Thursday morning at Saints Peter & Paul Church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer´s Association of Northeastern PA, 63 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
